Hiked up to Marlette and the other hikers went on to the Flume Trail while I painted by the lake. As I watched, a beaver waddled out on the far shore, went into the bushes and dragged out a long branch, dragged it back to the shore, swam out about halfway and disappeared under the water, towing that branch. A few minutes later, the sequence repeated, for the hour or so that I sat there! Busy as a beaver, indeed!
